Ffiliffest 2013, held in Caerphily Castle was a great success. It was held on Sunday, July 7th between 11-7pm and an opportunity for children, families and people of all ages to explore the castle and appreciate a variety of activities celebrating Welsh language and culture.

The main stage was busy throughout the day with children’s favourite Heini from S4C performing in the morning, Welsh bagpipe player Antwn Hicks followed by children from local primary schools folk dancing – the largest annual performance in the County. In the afternoon, a variety of Welsh bands performed including Kizzy Crawford from Merthyr Tydfil and Al Lewis who was taking time from his tour with Jools Holland to perform in Ffiliffest.

In addition to the musical entertainment, there were a variety of stalls selling local produce, a sports area with three of the Dragons rugby team entertaining the children and a food area for families to enjoy. It was a pleasure to welcome people of all ages to Ffiliffest 2013 and with over 1,200 visitors including tourists from Germany, Korea and Patagonia. Thank you to everyone from Caerphilly County and further afield for supporting our annual event – we are looking forward to next year already!
